HELP OUT MODERN DOG!
Modern Dog is a small design studio in Seattle founded by Robynne Raye and Mike Strassburger (both teachers at Cornish) who are currently caught in a copyright battle after one of their designs were stolen and used on t-shirts distributed by a couple big corporations — Target and Disney. This started back in 2011, and they’re still toughing all the legal matters out.
Because of their copyright battle with these large companies, they’re slowly left with limited resources and recently had to sell their studio to help fund the lawsuit. (NOO!)
That’s where you can step in and help this awesome company fight it out! Robynne and Mike are great designers and teachers, so just wanted to help out with their cause as much as I can. Hopefully you can do the same! I know Tumblr has it’s fair share of “art thieves”, so here’s an example of how things can blow up and get extremely complicated!
”Copyright law should protect everyone, not just those who can afford to litigate.”
